My philosophy as a mixer stems from a background of teaching myself how to mix. Before studying Audio Engineering, I dove straight into mixing with no prior knowledge or direction. Because I learned to mix incorrectly, then was taught some ideas on standard mixing techniques at school, I now know how to break all the rules to create something really cool. There shouldn't be a cookie cutter way to mix or record, and every project should be treated as an individual and unique work of art.

For my capstone project, I will be producing, recording, mixing, and mastering an EP. The overall goal for this project is to become more acclimated to using hardware in the studio. Since a lot of this project will be mainly done by me, I want to test the limits of all the gear I have at my disposal, and really get creative with my production and mixing. This means trying new things; whether it's atypical mixing strategies, sending a vocal through a potato, or using strange objects as samples. I would like to listen back on this project with memories and stories behind each song, rather than a project that I stressed over making perfectly standard.
